The MOSAIC team has just completed its first field mission in Brazil, to the two Amazon study sites (on the border between Peru, Colombia and Brazil, and on the border between French Guiana and Brazil). The mission provided an opportunity to meet the project’s key stakeholders and gain a better understanding of the current issues and needs of local populations. The Amazon is currently experiencing a period of historic drought, which has led to fires and made some villages inaccessible by river. This can have considerable impacts on ecosystems, wildlife and the health and well-being of local populations. The team, which has come back even stronger from this experience, now has concrete solutions to cooperate with local communities, in order to identify their needs and co-construct concrete solutions.
Special thanks to our partners @PICTIS Plataforma InternaciFundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz)cruz)Sede Amazonia – Universidad Nacional de Colombia for organising the mission and receiving us in Leticia anUnifap Oficial for receiving us in Oiapoque !
